Software I used to make the presentation and YouTube version of it (all free software available over the internet): OpenOffice 3.4.1: I used OpenOffice 3.4.1 to make the presentation slides and to generate the images of the individual slides that I used to make the YouTube version of the presentation. SlideRocket: I made an earlier version of the presentation using the website www.sliderocket.com which was itself based on a version I made with OpenOffice 3.4.1. Tubesucker: I used Tubesucker to download the videos I used for slide 14_1 and slide 14_2 and the music for slide 14_3 from YouTube. FLV Parser and FLV Editor Lite 1.1.1.846: I used the former to split the video I downloaded for slide 14_1 and the latter to split the video I downloaded for slide 14_2. Zwei-Stein 3.01: I used Zwei-Stein 3.01 to make videos of slides 14_1 and 14_2 for the YouTube version of the presentation and to blank out the text on the video clip downloaded from YouTube. Audacity 2.0.2: I used Audacity 2.0.2 to record myself reading out the text of the presentation, convert the recordings to MP3 format and to edit the recordings. MP3 Cutter Online: I used the website mp3cut.net to split the music I downloaded from YouTube for slide 14_3. Paint: I used Paint to generate the bitmap that was overlayed on the text on the video clip used in slide 14_1 using Zwei-Stein in order to blank the text out, to remove the artefacts from both images I downloaded from the internet for slide 14_3 and to add features to one of the images used in slide 14_3. HandBrake 0.9.8: I used Handbrake 0.9.8 to convert the videos of slides 14_1 and 14_2 I made with Zwein-Stein 3.01 to Mpeg 4 format. Zamzar: I used www.zamzar.com to convert the videos for slides 14_1 and 14_2 in the OpenOffice version of the presentation from FLV format to Mpeg 4 format for the OpenOffice version of the presentation. VideoSpin 2.0.0.669: I used VideoSpin 2.0.0.669 to make the YouTube version of the presentation and to upload the presentation to YouTube. Hardware I used to make this presentation: Laptop (2007 model, 12.1" screen) Headphones Microphone Microphone preamplifier (1-channel, solid-state i.e. not a valve preamplifier) that connects directly to a USB port. Other Info: File size for OpenOffice version of the presentation: 19 MB The equipment I used for recording my voice for the presentation consists of one of the many ways you can do so using laptop or desktop computers. Much of the time required to make the presentation and the YouTube version involved figuring out what software I could use to do so and how to use it. Much less time will now be needed for such for a/the next one if or when I have the inclination to make another one, but I will still be checking out the various options. Please ask any questions you might have about it through the comments board. I'm not particularly pleased about the category, but I had to choose one.
